In addition to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel and Chardonnay, Alexander Valley’s growers and wineries also produce such varietals as Viognier, Pinot Blanc, Shiraz and Sangiovese. Cloverdale Historical Museum Cloverdale Historical Museum. Run by the Cloverdale Historical Society, the Cloverdale Historical Museum (aka the Gould-Shaw House) features many artifacts and remnants of days gone by. In addition to the museum operations, the historical society also sponsors an annual fiddle contest that draws visitors from around the country. Truly a family event with old-fashioned fun, it has become so popular that it was recently expanded from one day to two. It is usually held in late January. Cloverdale Historical Murals. The Cloverdale Historical Murals, located on the north wall of the Sciaini Building at 124 S. Cloverdale Boulevard, depict early life in Cloverdale. Clear Lake State Park Clear Lake State Park. Clear Lake State Park is on the shores of California’s largest freshwater lake. The area is popular for all kinds of water recreation, including swimming, fishing, boating and water-skiing. Anglers can catch large mouth bass, crappie, bluegill and channel catfish. Hikers enjoy the Indian Nature Trail, a self-guided trail that shows how the Pomo people, who lived in the area for centuries, utilized the area’s resources. Skydive San Francisco. Skydive San Francisco is the premier skydiving center serving the San Francisco Bay area. Services include first-time skydiving courses and advanced solo skydiving instruction. Cloverdale River Park Cloverdale River Park. Situated on the Russian River, Cloverdale River Park offers seasonal fishing and river access for kayaks and canoes. It is a great spot for wildlife viewing along the river and at the seasonal freshwater ponds on the east side of the site. There are also family picnic sites with barbecues.
